TROY ~ Florence Marie "Dodie" Hilbert, 90, of Troy, Ohio, passed away at 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Koester Pavilion, Troy. She was born on Nov. 8, 1919, in Troy, to the late Alfred and Lena (Berchtold) Bretland. Her husband, Louis Hilbert, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles L. and Suellen Hilbert of St. Paris, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Gary Vorhees of Gainesville, Fla.; sister, Virginia Stang of Troy; six grandchildren, Michelle, Steve, John, Charles D., Colleen and Andrea; and nine great-grandchildren, Joe, Gracie, Jack, Shanda, Heather, Chris, Corey, Payton and Jaden.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Dodie was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
She was a graduate of Troy High School and a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Troy. Dodie was a homemaker and a longtime volunteer at Stouder Memorial Hospital, Troy.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at Baird Funeral Home, Troy, with the Rev. Melody Williams officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Trinity Memorial Gardens.
