Friends and relatives here were grieved to learn of the death of Otho F. Barley, which occurred Saturday morning at the home of his son Kenneth, in Ste. Genevieve, Mo., where he had spent the winter. His body was brought to Kemper Funeral Parlors in Troy, Sunday evening, where it will lie in state until Tuesday afternoon when services will be conducted at the Hawk Point Community church.
Mr. Barley was born and lived all of his life in this community, being in business here for many years, until ill health necessitated his retirement. He continued to take an active interest in community affairs and served on the Board of Directors of the Peoples Bank for many years. Although in poor health he enjoyed meeting with and talking to his friends and he will be greatly missed. Published in the Troy Free Press, Feb. 19, 1954.
