Cornelius Neil Bell of Wedron, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at Pleasant View in Ottawa.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16, at St. Joseph Mission Church in Wedron with Rev. John Waugh, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa where full military rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, January 15, at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with liturgical prayers at 4 p.m.
Cornelius was born June 9, 1924 in Seneca to Alexander and Helen (Gribbin) Bell. He was an Ottawa Township High School graduate. He married Virginia Johnson Super May 18, 1957 at St. Joseph Mission Church in Wedron. She died March 7, 1986. He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in Europe with the Combat Engineers. He retired from Libby Owens Ford in 1981 after 30 years of employment. He was a member of St. Joseph Mission Church in Wedron, A.A.R.P., Ottawa Knights of Columbus, Ottawa VFW, American Legion Post 33 of Ottawa, Illinois Sheriffs Association and Glassworkers Local 19.
He is survived by one sister, Patricia Perrot of Ottawa; 5 step-grandchildren and 8 step- great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: one step-son, Jerome Super; one sister, Helen Wilcox Moser and one brother, Donald Bell.
Memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Mission Church in Wedron.
Pallbearers will be: Kevin Gibson, Ron Wilcox, Dennis Bell, Mike Kelm, William Bramel, Jim Corrie and Rich Eirhart.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Geno Dariff, Sidney Stiefel, Pete Ferracuti, and Cindy Eirhart
