The Bemidji Daily Pioneer August 25, 1909 Obituary:
Note: they call him John in the obit. His name was Don/sometimes called Dan in articles. His father, Donald, had a brother named John so maybe the newspaper got mixed up.
---------------------------------

Brother of William McCuaig Dead.

Word was received in this city today that John McCuaig, a brother of William McCuaig, of this city, had died at Milaca, Minn., this morning.

The death of John McCuaig is not unexpected, as he had been an invalid for several years. The deceased has traveled over all parts of the western country, in the hope of benefiting his health, but without avail, finally returning to the old home at Milaca to pass the remaining days in quiet, among friends and relatives.

The Pioneer is not informed of the age of John McCuaig, but as we understand it, he was a comparatively young man; and his untimely taking off is a keen sorrow to friends and relatives.

William McCuaig and his family have been at Milaca for several days awaiting the final summons of John to the other shore.

John McCuaig was a patient sufferer, and he endured his failing strength without a murmur. The end was as peaceful as the close of a beautiful summer day, when daylight fades into night with increasing loveliness.

Interred In Oak Knoll Cemetery
A large delegation of relatives and
friends of the family came down from
Milaca on the morning train Friday
with the remains of Dan McCuaig.
Carriages were in waiting at the depot
to convey the pall-bearers, leading
citizens of our sister village, and the
mourners to Oak Knoll cemetery.
There were also numerous Princeton
and Greenbush friends of the family
present. The services at the cemetery
were brief. Dan McCuaig made a
brave but unavailing struggle for life
and now he is at rest—his suffering is
ended. It is for the best.

He must have been a kind and well-liked gentleman.
