John "Jack" A. Hecker, 80, of Columbia, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at Conestoga View Nursing Home. He was the husband of Shirley Anne (Weber) Hecker with whom he celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage.

Born August 15, 1937 in Cabbage Hill, Lancaster, PA, he was the son of the late Albert L. and Elizabeth L. (Ortlieb) Hecker.

Jack was a graduate of Lancaster Catholic High School, Class of 1955 and Thaddeus Stevens School of Technology. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Columbia, PA. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #2294, Third Degree and Trout Unlimited and the Elks #1074 in Columbia, PA.

Jack ran his father's dairy business while he was a senior in high school. Then he worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for a few years. After that, he worked for Hoak & Yarnell Sporting Goods and then managed Jackson Marine Sales in Lancaster.

Jack and his wife moved to Colorado and lived there for about ten years. He got back in the insurance business while in Colorado and sold Senior Health Insurance until he retired at age 75.

Jack loved to fish and hunt, which he did a lot of in Colorado. He also liked to do woodworking. He made the kitchen cabinets for the house in Colorado.

In addition to his loving wife, Jack is survived by his children, Jeffrey A., husband of Jodi Hecker, of Lancaster, Annette M. Wallis, of Dallas, Oregon; a sister, Mary M., wife of Robert Chalfant. Jack is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Thomas Wallis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia, PA 17512 on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11AM. There will be a viewing at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday morning between 10-11AM. Interment will be held in the St. Joseph New Cemetery, Bausman, PA. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Remembrances can be made in Jack's memory to Holy Trinity Catholic Church to the above address.
