Called "Cynthia" by her family, she was known as "Cindy" by many of her friends. She was a strong, tenacious, and passionately caring woman. To the end she was most concerned about the people in her life who would need to carry on after she was gone.

Cynthia loved the world and traveled extensively with her husband Rob or her travel buddy, guided only by a copy of the appropriate Lonely Planet. She enjoyed great adventures in Indonesia, Australia, Fiji, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and the Marshall Islands, among other tropical spots.

For 18 years she helped build Patagonia into a major force in the outdoor industry. She was responsible for the needs of all of the large accounts in the early days of the company and was key in planning, staffing and opening new Patagonia retail stores throughout the U.S.

After retiring from Patagonia she and Rob moved to Gold Beach, Ore., where they have resided for 17 years. Together they formed a formidable design and construction team. With their combined talents they built many beautiful custom homes in the Gold Beach area. She dedicated her spare time to the local animal shelter in Gold Beach, helping rescue and care for abandoned pets. She began a successful fundraising campaign she named "Pennies for Pooches," which is a significant source of funding for the shelter today.

Cynthia always made family and friends the center of her universe and was able to accomplish so many things due to her boundless energy and zest for life. Rob, her husband of 33 years, her mother Carmela Razo of Carpinteria, her father Max Razo and his wife Dorothy of Santa Clarita, her six siblings and an abundance of extended family and friends will miss her deeply.

Family and friends are holding a celebration for Cynthia from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach, Oxnard.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Cynthia's name to Pennies for Pooches, P.O. Box 1883, Gold Beach, OR 97444.
