Mario "Skip" Joseph Loiacono, Jr., passed on Tuesday morning, May 17, 2011 at The Boston Medical Center. Born on April 24, 1947, Mario was a dedicated Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, and Friend.

He was a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University. Mario was an accomplished Principal, Professional Engineer and LEED Accredited Professional Engineer at BR+A Consulting Engineers, where he left his mark on many educational and healthcare communities throughout the world via his sustainable design of industrial, academic research, pharmaceutical and laboratory facilities.

In his spare time Mario enjoyed boating, reading, traveling and a great meal paired with a glass of wine followed by a fine cigar. But Mario found the most joy and fulfillment in the simple things in life; a conversation with a stranger, a story with a friend, sitting on the patio with his family, or making macaroni art with his grandson. He seemingly always found a way to teach a lesson, lend advice, leave a positive impression and make every conversation count.

As a Husband, Father and Friend, Mario left a legacy of love, honesty, hard work, dedication, resilience and strength. He had an infectious and endearing personality and left many with lasting warm memories of a man who cared dearly and selflessly for those around him.

Mario was the Husband of Elaine Rozanski Loiacono; Father of Melanie Loiacono Bednarek and Jonathan Loiacono; Father-in-Law of Erik Bednarek; Grandfather of Addison and Aidan Bednarek; Son of Mary Tofuri Loiacono and the late Mario Loiacono, Sr.; Brother of Patricia Fenster and the late Victoria Loiacono; and was the friend of countless others.

Funeral from the Bolea-Amici Funeral Home, 115 North Main Street, Mansfield, Saturday, May 21 at 8am. Followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, 330 Pratt Street (Rte. 106) Mansfield at 9am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4-8pm. Interment in Rock Hill Cemetery in Foxboro.

Donations may be made in Mr. Loiacono's memory to the Scleroderma Foundation of New England, 462 Boston Street, Suite 1-1, Topsfield MA 01983.
