Daniel Franklin Quigg passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones on Jan. 31, 2012.

Daniel was born May 17, 1935, in Chicago, Ill., to Mary and Floyd Quigg. As a young man Daniel worked in a gas station which inspired him to get an education. He became the first in his family to get a college degree and received an honors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia. During his career he was involved with many complicated projects for which he was very proud.

He loved being a citizen of the world, traveling to Spain, Alaska, Scotland, England and New Zealand. He traveled throughout Europe with his sweetheart, Carol Bishop. Perhaps his most adventurous travels were traveling cross-country with his homemade teardrop trailer and RV to visit his son in Maryland and friends throughout the U.S.

Daniel was a charismatic and caring man. He told great stories, made people laugh, loved and inspired many.

Daniel is survived by his devoted and loving companion, Carol Bishop; his sons, Daniel Jr. and Stephen; his sisters, Ruth Peterson and Gail Hillis; and his brothers, Allen and Stephen Quigg. He is also survived by Daniel's son Ryan and his children Samari, Jaydan, and Ryan Jr.; and Stephen's children Taylor and Connor. He will also be missed by the many friends who were a part of his life.

The family would like to thank Livingston Memorial hospice care for their compassion and excellent care of Daniel.

In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Daniel's memory to his favorite charity, the Salvation Army, which helped his family in his early life, Livingston Memorial, or your favorite charity .

Daniel has been entrusted to the care and kindness of Joseph Reardon Funeral Home.
