Actor, Singer. He is best remembered for his role as ‘Judas’ in the 1971 Broadway play and movie "Jesus Christ Superstar" (1973)(which earned him a Golden Globe nomination for best actor). His other notable credits include "The Color Purple" (1985) as ‘Rev. Samuel’ and Mello's Kaleidoscope (2002). On television he played ‘King Monroe’ on the Soap Opera "Another World" and guest appearances on shows such as "The Rockford Files," "Magnum P.I." and "Starsky & Hutch." Signed to Colombia Records in 1980, his debut album "Absence Without Love" (1982), didn't attract much attention, but the second try, "On & On," did well internationally. He recorded two more LPs for the label, and the 1986 release " Carl Anderson" earned him his only pop hit, the duet "Friends and Lovers" with soap star Gloria Loring that shot to #2 on the Billboard charts. Carl lost his life to leukemia in 2004 at age 58.
