STEIDING, Miss Annie Maria

Died, on August 3rd, 1884, Annie Maria Steiding, aged 12 years, 5 months and 8 days. She was baptized in infancy by Rev. J. H. Cupp, and after being duly instructed in the doctrines of the gospel of God she was confirmed in the Deer Park Evangelical Lutheran Church last spring, at the festival of Trinity Sunday.
Annie was a bright, sweet Christian[sic] girl, she lived a beautiful life, and though short, accomplished all that was necessary to her salvation. She died a beautiful death. It was the day of all the week the best, the Sabbath, that she passed from the shores of time into eternity. A quiet Sabbath eve. Two Sabbaths coming together, the earthly and the eternal Sabbath of rest. Little Annie called in the whole family and bade them an affectionate goodbye, calling each by name. She then clasped her eldest brother in a fond embrace and called for her brother recently gone before to come now and take her home. She fell asleep, after a short, but severe attack of typhoid fever which did its perfect work. The funeral was from her father's, Mr. Barnhardt Steiding's home to the Lutheran Church at Deer Park, thence to Deer Park Cemetery, where her remains were laid beside her brother's remains, joining his spirit above.
The funeral service was conducted and sermon was preached by Rev. Wm. Stoudemire from the words: "She is not dead but sleepeth". Luke 8:52. Mr. Steiding's household is greatly afflicted with typhoid. Five of the family have already taken the disease and two have died. The Lord comfort and bless them.
