Service Is Held For Mrs. Maddox
Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Maddox were held at the Free Methodist church July 9 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. R.E. Butterfield, superintendent of the Deaconess hospital of Oklahoma City, officiating.
Burial was made in the Newkirk cemetery, under the direction of the Stahl Funeral Service. Grandsons of the deceased served as pallbearers.
Mrs. Maddox was born January 19, 1881 in Chautauqua county, Kansas and died at the Ponca City hospital July 7, at 12:45 a.m. following an extended illness.
She came to Oklahoma as a girl, and lived with her parents at Port. January 26, 1908 she was married to Rev. W.H. Maddox and the couple moved to Newkirk in August of 1946, where they have since lived.
Survivors include her husband, W.H. Maddox, of the home; three step-sons, Thomas Cleo Maddox and James Gilmer "Gib" Maddox, of Ponca City, and Timothy Lee Maddox, of Newkirk; one daughter, Mrs. Virgie Mae Maddox Booker, Houston, Texas; two brothers, Arthur Abbott and Frank Abbott both of Seiling; three sisters, Miss Anna Abbott, Mrs. Nora Hawkins and Mrs. Josie Swan, all of Seiling; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
