Tyger-Helsel, Shirley Ann, 85, of Portage, formerly of Indiana, PA, passed away on April 17, 2023, in Johnstown. She was born on June 8, 1937, in Portage. Shirley was the daughter of Albert and Agnes (Helsel) Stombaugh. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Donald Tyger and Zane Helsel; her grandson Timothy Nott; her son-in-law Ron Skulley; and her siblings, Albert Jr., Charles, Raymond, Harold, Merle and Melvin Stombaugh, Velma Hutzell, Lois Brewer and Margaret Harper.

She was a member of Martindale Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, winters in Florida and, in her younger days, camping.

Family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until the funeral service at noon at Martindale CMA in Portage; Pastor Timothy Dietrich, officiant. Committal will be private to the immediate family.

Shirley wished to offer a special thank-you to the staff at Richland Woods assisted living community for their excellent care. She requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Martindale Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 179 Alliance Avenue, Portage, PA 15946.
