Beloved and prolific author of the Mrs. Pollifax book series (fourteen books) as well as author of a number of other books including: The Maze in the Heart of the Castle, The Tightrope Walker, Clairvoyant Countess, and Incident at Badamya.

She was married to Edgar A. Butters, Jr. They married on September 15, 1945 and were divorced in 1965.
She had two sons, Christopher Butters and Jonathan Butters.

For the last nine years she had suffered from Alzheimer's disease and passed away at her home.

She will be greatly missed.
