Prominent Woman Dies Suddenly
Mrs. Anna Beebe, wife of S. J. M. Beebe, organizer for the Woodmen of the World, died at home in this city at 6:30 o'clock last evening, the cause of her death being heart disease, superinduced by kidney trouble. Death was entirely unexpected. She was taken ill several days ago. but seemingly recovered, as she was able to work about her home the day before she died. At 10 o'clock Thursday morning she was seized with a spell of dizziness and went to bed. Yesterday morning she felt well enough to get up and eat a hearty breakfast. During the day, however, her condition grew worse, and death quickly followed.
Anna Evans Beebe was born in Booneville, Missouri, 49 years ago. She came to this state in 1865 with her parents. Her father was the late Phillip E. Evans of Deer Lodge. In 1876 she was married to Judge McMurphey of Butte. There the couple resided until the death of Judge McMurphey about ten years ago. Eight years ago, Mrs. McMurphey was married to S.J.M. Beebe, the ceremony being performed at Hamilton. Her mother, Mrs. Mary B. Evans, resides in Missoula but at present at the home of a son, Thomas A. Evans, of Potomac.
She is survived by the following brothers and sisters: John M. Evans, Missoula, Thomas E. Evans of Potomac, Henry W. Evans of Deer Lodge, Mrs. J. W. Lister of Missoula, and Mrs. W. J. Allen of Arlee. Two other sisters live out of state.
She was a member of the ladies' auxiliary to the Woodmen of the World and belonged to the Highlanders. She was a member of the Christian Science church.
