Harold Richard was the son of Richard H. and Gertie (Vander Kooi) Paekel.
On July 15, 1948 her married Elizabeth Colenbrander at Orange City. They made their home in Orange City where Harold was associated with De Vries Transfer. He was first an employee and then became owner/operator of the moving company. He was still active in the business.
Mr. Paekel was a member of the First Reformed Church, where he had served on the consistory as both an elder and a deacon.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter and her husband, Beth and John Johnson, of Rock Valley; two grandchildren, Kimberly and Mark; two sisters, Marjorie Campbell of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Helen Dehner of Alton; and nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Krista Beth.
