Francis Matthew Dance married Mary Ann Adams in Oglethorpe, Georgia on 17 Dec 1827, he and Mary Ann had 6 children before she died. Francis then married Rebecca Hinton Simmons in Troup County Georgia on 11 Apr 1842 and moved with his family a couple of years later to Claiborne Parish where he lived and died. He and Rebecca had 10 children.This was a total of 15 children for Francis Matthew.

This gravesite is located in a remote area at the original Homestead. Four members of his family including Rebecca are buried with him.
Francis Matthew is the progenator for the Dance's and Harris's in Louisiana.
He is the son of Thomas Dance and Sarah Fisher of Mecklenburg County Virginia.
