VETERAN
Gerald "Jerry" Zirbel passed away December 22, 2008, at Marcus Daly Hospice of natural causes. He was born in Wrightstown, Wisconsin, in 1928, to Lawrence Zirbel and Adaline Fredrich Zirbel. Jerry graduated from Wightstown High School in 1946 and began his career in agricultural sales, through the years traveling to many states. From 1950 until 1952, he served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. In 1952, Jerry married his high school classmate, Phyllis Berger, in Kenosha, Wisconsin They have celebrated 52 years together. Jerry and Phyllis raised their family in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota; five boys: Mike, Chuck, Fritz, Louie and Chris; three girls: Pat, Jenna and Sue. In 1976, Jerry and Phyllis moved to Hamilton, Montana, where Jerry continued to travel in sales. Retiring in 1992, this fisherman enjoyed the space to fish at Camp Tuffit on Lake Mary Ronan.
Survivors include his wife, eight children, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.
Jerry was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church; his special charity was Haven House. Weather-wise, we will have a memorial service and interment during June in Hamilton. Arrangements are under the care of Daly-Leach Chapel.
