Ralph S. Nachreiner, age 79, of Portage, passed away on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at Divine Savior Healthcare Hospital.

Ralph was born on Oct. 24, 1932, in Plain, Wis., the son of Sylvester and Laura (Reuschlein) Nachreiner. He served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Ralph was a lifelong farmer and printer, owning and operating E.N.A. Business Forms in McFarland. He was married on May 22, 1954, to Pauline M. Schwartz at St. Norbert's in Roxbury. Ralph loved fishing, hunting andgardening. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage, Knights of Columbus C. W. Henney Council No. 1637, and VFW Post No. 1707, Portage.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline "Polly"; his children; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and another due in April; his adult siblings; his in-laws; his dog, Lucky; other near relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvester and Laura Nachreiner; an infant brother; and a grandson, Robert Nachreiner.

Memorial services will be held in the spring at St. Mary Catholic Church in Portage. Inurnment will be in Shanks Cemetery, with military graveside services provided by Portage area veterans. The Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, Portage, or to the Biochemical Genetics Clinic, in care of U.W. Waisman Center, 1500 Highland Ave., Madison, WI 53705.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Divine Savior EMT, the Emergency Room Team and the entire staff of Divine Savior Healthcare. Special thanks also to Dr. John Phelan, whose meetings always left Ralph with a glimmer of hope. Thank you to Dr. Gregory and Dr. Schnee at Divine Savior Healthcare.
