She married Joseph Couture on July 26, 1868 at St. Patrick Church, Chateaugay, Franklin County, New York. They immigrated to New York and then on to Michigan, where they farmed in the Reeman area of Newaygo County. They eventually lived in Muskegon, where their daugther and her family resided.
They had two children: Elmira and Moise "Moise".
She and Joseph are buried next to a grandson, Gilbert Klinkner, who was killed in WWI at the Argonne Forest, France. His remains were orignally buried in France, but later sent home to Michigan.
Their headstone lists Sarah as living 1840-1910. However, in the 1920 census, she is listed as living with her son. Her death certificate shows that she died January 5, 1921. Other records show that she was born May 28, 1848.
