He was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Beardstown, a son of David H. and Alma Laura Anderson.
On Oct. 16, 1941, David married Bessie Lela Ethridge in Tower Hill, Ill. She preceded him in death on Jan. 30, 2001.
Also preceding him in death were two sons, three sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by two sons, Donald (Julie) Anderson of Springfield, Ohio, and Larry (LaTrisha) Anderson of Browning, Ill., and Urbana, Ohio; his daughter, Mrs. Rodney (Ruth) Simpson of Astoria; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
David was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the 957th Field Artillery Battalion. He was a farmer at Black Oak, Ill., a truck driver for Pennington Crossarm Co. in Beardstown, Ill., and worked at Astoria Fibra Steel, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the American Legion Post #25 of Astoria and the United Auto workers Local of Astoria.
Graveside services will be at the Beardstown City Cemetery, with Robert Spencer officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Astoria American Legion Post #25.
