Harland Davis
CALDWELL — Services for Harland Davis, 82, of Fruitland, formerly of Caldwell, who died on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 1983, in a Payette nursing home, will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23, in the Canyon Hill Church of the Nazarene, Caldwell, with Roy A. Green, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Chapel, New Plymouth.
Mr. Davis was born on June 25, 1901, in Douglas, Neb. He moved with his family to Farnam, Neb. in 1919. He farmed with his parents until March of 1925. He married Grace Spencer on Oct. 9, 1924, at Farnam. They farmed in the Farnam Community, where Harland became a member of the Nazarene Church in 1933. In 1939, they moved to Nampa, Idaho, where they attended the North Nampa Church. He was Sunday School Superintendent from 1942 to 1951. While he lived in Nampa, he worked as a clerk and later became the manager of the Alexander's Store in Caldwell. They moved to Caldwell, where he attended Caldwell First Nazarene Church, and also served as Sunday School Superintendent for ten years. He retired from Alexander's in 1970, at which time they changed their membership to Canyon Hill Nazarene Church, where he was a member at the time of his death. In July of 1983, they moved to Fruitland and resided with his brother-in-law, Dale Spencer.
He is survived by his wife, Grace of Fruitland; a sister, Marguerite Messersmith of Fox Lake, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother.
