Rev. Aaron Eugene Cooper, age 79, a resident of Cleveland, passed away early Monday morning, May 2, 2011 in a Chattanooga hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Army and during his tenure; he served as General MacArthur's personal paymaster. He was a successful pastor in the Church of God and a member of Mt. Olive Church of God. He was an avid golfer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Eula Rose Cooper; one son, Michael Cooper; one daughter, Debra Cooper; and one brother, Bobby Cooper.

Survivors include his wife, Martie Cooper of Cleveland; son, Aaron Cooper, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Pamela Lewis of Cleveland; brother, Donnie Cooper of North Carolina; sister, Joyce Buck of Tarboro, NC; five grandchildren, Candace Lewis, Brandon Lewis, Kristen Cooper, Mathew Cooper, and Preston Cooper; one great-grandson, Michael Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Sears and Rev. Perry Stone officiating. Interment will be held at Kenly Cemetery in Kenly, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the funeral home, prior to the funeral.
