Con Lynch was the son of Irish immigrants Cornelius and Bridget Harris Lynch. They lived in Republic, Michigan. Several members of the family were in the mining business. Some of Con's brothers owned the Lynch Brothers Diamond Drilling Company.

He married Jane McKenna and had four children: Howard, "Doll", Neil and Thomas.
