Mary Grueber Auer was born July 10, 1861 in Mierhouen, Germany. Her parents were Felix Grueber (1840? -1884) and Burke Grueber (Jan 1824- Aft 1900). She emigrated in 1889 (Ref 1900 Census) to Pennsylvania. She died April 25, 1963 at the age of 101. She had 4 sons & 5 daughters. In the following order:

Josephine Cecilia "Susan" 1892 - 1923
Elizabeth "Lizzie" V 1893 - 1971
Louis Vincent Sr 1894 - 1970
Rose Virginia 1897 - 1977
Marie Ester 1900 - 1951
Anna Katherine "Hannah" 1901 - 1931
John "Jonny" Louis 1903 - 1992
Albert Gilbert 1905 - 1949
Francis "Frank" Theodore 1907 - 1982

She married John Auer (1858-1922) in 1889 (Ref 1900 Census). She was a catholic and raised her children catholic. In the 1920s and 1930s, she was remembered as continuing to use a horse and buggy to bring produce into Connellsville to sell. She also made an excellent apple cider, which took the edge of a cold days hunting trip to her farm. She was recognized by the Pennsylvania Medical Society for her advanced years in excellent health and living to 100 in The Daily Courier newspaper.

She had 38 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren at the time of her death.
