Bertie Lorene Adams, daughter of John Elbert & Rosie Lee Winkles Adams, was born November 5, 1914, in the Clouds Cove Community of Madison County, Alabama.

She married Walter Lee Bird, son of Wiley Virgil & Willie Ann Josephine "Josie" Hunter Bird, on November 16, 1930, in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama.

To this union was born ten children - Rosie Lucille (Cowan), John Wiley, Peggy Sue (Knight), Alton Wayne, Sammy Ellis, Agnes Jane (Simmons), Phyllis Marie (Schultz), Nancy Kay (Martin), Ronald Dale, and Kevin Alan.

Lorene passed away on November 30, 1975, in Huntsville, Alabama (hospital). She suffered from diabetes and died from a heart attack as a result of her illness.

She was a faithful member of the Big Cove Free Holiness Church.

Mrs. Lorene Adams Bird, 61, of Rt. 1, Owens Cross Roads, died Saturday in a local hospital. The funeral was to be today at 2 p.m. in the Big Cove Holiness Church.
Burial was to be in Neal's Chapel Cemetery, Spry Funeral Home in charge. The Rev. Mitchell Drake, the Rev. Elige Holland and the Rev. David Jones were to officiate.
Pallbearers were Gene Adams, Toby Adams, Jimmy Rogers, Thomas Pruitt, Billy Ray Stone, Danny Byrd, Ralph Young and Nelson Stone.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Bird; four sons, J.W. Bird, Sammy Bird, Ronald Bird and Kevin Bird, all of Owens Cross Roads; five daughters, Mrs. James C. Cowan, and Mrs. Roger Martin, both of Brownsboro, Mrs. William Knight of Nashville, Tenn., Mrs. Lawrence Simmons of Hazel Green and Mrs. Jerry W. Schultz of Huntsville; a brother, John Adams Jr., of Opelika; a sister, Mrs. Kenneth Jones of Owens Cross Roads, and 13 grandchildren.
