"Andrew Jackson Cobb Is Dead"

Andrew Jackson Cobb, age 70, died this morning a 7 o'clock at the family residence of 5th Avenue Lowe Mill after a long illness of complications.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Ellen Cobb, one son, Newton Andrew Cobb of Chattanooga and five daughters: Mrs. Lena R. Bragg of Huntsvillle; Mrs. Nancy Cobb Smith of New Hope; Mrs. Nellie Glover of Owens Cross Roads; Miss Gracie Cobb of Chattanooga; and Mrs. Lillie Sharp of Huntsville.

Funeral services will be announced later with Womack in charge.

Funeral services of Andrew Jackson Cobb were held yesterday morning at the family residence on Fifth street, Lowe Mill, with Rev. Mr. Jackson officiating. Interment was at Chandler cemetery, near Cave Spring, with Womack in charge.

Pallbearers were Frank McCoy, Tom McCoy, W.T. Hyney, Maurice Moreland, C.J. Walter, and W.M. Henting.

Andrew Jackson Cobb was the son of Adams A Cobb and Nancy Marytine Nell Vann.

In May 1878, he married Charlotte Worley, daughter of Newton C Worley and Caroline D Buford. Their children were:
Lena Rivers Cobb (1879-1955)
Nancy Jane Cobb (1881-1968)
Nellie O Cobb (1883-1939)
John Bowen Cobb (1885-1920)
Newton Andrew Cobb (1887-1975)
Richard Grady Cobb (1890-1927)
Grace Cobb (1893-1947)
Lillie Estelle Cobb (1897-1933)

On October 25, 1909, his wife, Charlotte Worley, died.

And in May, 1911, he married Margaret Ellen Caudle, the widow of William Floyd Bragg who had died in 1910.

Prior to his death in 1928, Andrew Jackson Cobb saw the deaths of two of his sons - John Bowen Cobb in 1920 and Richard Grady Cobb in 1927. He was buried at Chandler Cemetery where his son, John Bowen, had been buried in 1920. First wife, Charlotte, had been buried at Merrimack Cemetery in Huntsville.
