Marriage 20 May 1928 - Oskaloosa, Mahaska, Iowa, USA - Age: 24

Iowa 4-H, Hall of Fame, Fern Cook, Hardin County, 2003 inductee

Fern Cook loved 4-H, and the county and state fairs - especially photography. She was a 4-H leader for many years before she started a Hardin County Photography Club. Assisted by Majorie Norm Union, Fern hosted and led the South Hardin County 4-H Photography Club, which was attended by many 4-H’ers. In addition, she helped many choose, develop, and enlarge fair photos.

She judged 4-H achievement shows, other county fairs, and served on the State Extension Advisory Committee. Her husband, Maurice, was chairman of the Building Committee, which built the Hardin County Youth Building 1955.

Fern and Maurice’s sons, Kenneth, Frank, and Lisle were very active 4-H’ers. All eleven of their grandchildren participated as Hardin County 4-H’ers. The legacy continues with thirteen of their great-grandchildren showing and/or exhibiting at the 2003 Hardin County Fair.
