Last rites for William James ABBOTT, 77, R.R. 1, Rochester, who died at 9 a.m. Thursday in Bradenton, Fla., will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster & Good funeral home. The Rev. William SIMPSON will officiate and burial will be in the Fulton citizens cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Abbott was dead on arrival at a Bradenton hospital after suffering a heart attack at the trailer court where he had made his winter home for the last five years. He had been in failing health for a number of years. Mr. Abbott had owned and operated a welding shop in Fulton, having retired several years ago. He also was an artist and his paintings frequently were on display in Rochester at the Coffee Shop. He was a member of the Fulton E.U.B. church. Born Feb. 16, 1890 in Fulton county, he had resided most of his life in the Fulton and Rochester communities. His parents were Francis and Lydia ULCH ABBOTT. His first marriage was to Verna NEWTON, who preceded in death. He was married Nov. 20, 1932 in Rochester to Ruth INSLEY, who survives. Surviving with the wife are four daughters, Mrs. Jack (Wilma) MELLICK, Wellington, O.; Mrs. Joseph (Opal) CUTLER and Mrs. Carl (Orpha) ALFELD, both of Warsaw; and Mrs. Thomas (Norma) FAULKNER, R.R. 1, Tippecanoe; five sons, Alvin and Oscar [ABBOTT], Warsaw; William [ABBOTT], Logansport; Jim [ABBOTT], Angola, and Donald [ABBOTT], R.R. 4, Rochester; two step-sons, Lawrence CRAIN, Danville, Ill., and Robert CRAIN, Midwest City, Okla.; two step-daughters, Mrs Eldon (Betty) LEEDY, Niles, Mich., and Mrs. Paul (Marjorie) MUCKENFUSS, Logansport; fifty grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Fred (Alice) FISHER, Kewanna. A son, Eldon [ABBOTT], was killed in action during World War II and a son, Wilbur [ABBOTT], was killed during the Korean War.
