Born in Jackson County, Mr. Cronic had lived in Hall County for most of his life. He was the son of the late John Henry and Elizabeth Anna Tanner Cronic. He was retired from Gainesville Midland Railroad, where he served as a conductor for more than 47 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Berean Sunday school class for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Whitmire Cronic, and daughter, Joan Farr.

Survivors include his son, Jon Cronic, Gainesville; son-in-law, Charlie C. Farr, Gainesville; grandchildren, Wiley Cason and Cindy Scott Farr, Marietta, Harrison Cronic and Mindy Waddell Farr, Dothan, Ala., Thaddeus Charles and Amanda Leigh Cronic, Gainesville, and Christy Cronic and James E. Castleberry, Cleveland; great-grandchildren, Tanner Cason Farr and Mary Hampton Farr, Marietta, Joan McClendon Farr, Dothan, Ala., Jena Elizabeth Millwood and Jade Michael Millwood, Cleveland, and Bentley Hope Cronic, Gainesville.
