M. C. Sausser, an old settler and
Civil war veteran, died at his home
at Princeton on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
after a long illness of dropsy. Mr.
Sausser was brought home from the
Soldiers' Home only a short time ago
when it became evident that death was
only a question of a very short time.
The funeral was held yesterday after-
noon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. Kathan of
the M. E. church of Milaca officiating.
The Odd Fellows and Wallace T. Rines
G.A.R. post of which orders Mr.Sausser
was a member, had charge of the funeral.

Michael C. Sausser came to Minnesota
twenty-eight years ago and most of
his long residence in the State was
spent in and about Princeton. He
was born in Pine Grove, Penn., in
December, 1838, and was married to
Sarah A. Swiler when a young man. His
wife died April 4, 1900. Four sons
and one daughter survive him. The
sons are William. Don, Samuel and
Charles, while his daughter with whom
he lived and at whose home he died,
is Mrs. Mary Umbehocker.

Mr.Sausser after coming to Minnesota
was located for a short time at Sauk
Rapids where he engaged in business,
and up to a few years ago he engaged
in mercantile business in Princeton.
He was a member of Co.C, 208th Penn-
sylvania Infantry during the Civil War.

He had served as commander of Wallace
T. Rines G.A.R. Post and was also
quartermaster of the post several times.
Until he was taken ill with dropsy
about two years ago he had enjoyed
pretty fair health. He was a loyal and
enthusiastic member of the G. A. R.
and always took great interest in its
welfare, and all patriotic observances.
