Daisy's parents died when she was young so she was raised in London, England by her aunt (her mother's sister). She volunteered at one of the military hospitals during the war and met Charles McClean there .... he was a Canadian Soldier who was recovering from wounds received during the Battle of the Somme. They got married in 1918 and she came to Canada with Charles in 1919. They had five children (their first child was stillborn - Earnest Elgin - Dec. 23,1919 - buried in the Markdale, ON area). The family lived in Markdale, Vandeleur, Flesherton and Brampton. Her three sons all served in WWII. Their last home together was in Meadowvale after Charles retired.
