John Mathias was born 1786 in W. Manchester Township, Little York, Pennsylvania. He married Anna Magdalena "Mary" Fackler 22 September 1805 or 1807. Both years have been seen in sources for John. John became the father of nine children; Leonard, Adam, Barbara, John, Godfrey/Gottlieb, Mary, Susan/Susannah, Simon Peter and George. John moved his family in 1813 to Lockport, Tuscarawas County, Ohio. He was a farmer and laboror. John died either in 1825 or 1828. It is believed that burial was in St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
