Mrs. Ira Bea (Shroll) Broxson, 87, of DeQuincy, Louisiana passed away at her home surrounded by loved ones on February 10, 2012 after a long and happy life. She was born in DeQuincy on December 13, 1924 with twin brother Everett Lee to Edward Clyde and Zella (Dyess) Shroll.

Ira Bea graduated from DeQuincy High School and the same week married Eugene (Gene) Broxson, Sr. in Lake Charles, Louisiana on May 21, 1943. Their marriage lasted 48 ½ years before his death. Ira loved making her home a gathering place for friends and family with food and fellowship. In her younger days, she enjoyed flower gardening, quilting, crochet, hunting and fishing as pastimes. While residing in McComb Mississippi, Ira was employed on the sewing line for Kellwood Manufacturing. A few years later, Ira began a career as an independent sales consultant with Home Interiors and enjoyed meeting new people and helping them make their homes warm and inviting.

Ira Bea was preceded in death by her husband Gene, and Parents, four brothers: Norman Shroll, Roy Knight, Carroll J. Knight, and E.C. (Fritz) Shroll, three sisters: Fern S. Griscom, MarieEtta Stephens Baukman and Etta Marie Shoemake.

Ira Bea's is survived by: Son and wife of Merryville, Louisiana, Daughter and of Metairie, Louisiana. One Granddaughter of Huntsville, Texas, Three Grandsons, OneGreat Grandchild, She is also survived by her twin brother of Santa Ana, California, Two Sisters, One Sister-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the country.

Sis. Ira Bea was a member of First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy where she was active in the Ladies Ministry and was a faithful prayer warrior until the end of her days. A celebration honoring her life was held at the 1st United Pentecostal Church in DeQuincy, LA on Tuesday, February 14, 2012. Funeral Services were Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in the First United Pentecostal Church Sanctuary. Pastor Wayne Cardwell and Elder T.D. Cardwell officiated. Interment will be at Perkins Cemetery in DeQuincy.

It was Ira Bea's request in lieu of flowers; donations be made to First United Pentecostal Church building fund. If you prefer to honor Ira as a five year Breast Cancer survivor and daughter, Sondra a 30 year Breast Cancer Survivor, donations may be made to Breast Cancer awareness and education.
For several years, Ira Bea received special love and care by her niece Nina Annette Shroll Spencer in addition to a number of special friends and relatives: Burnadell Baggett, Angie Bell, Betty Berry, Dorothy Bushnell, Jenell Cooley, Cookie Gearen, Carolyn Gilbert, Mavis Goulart, Ruby Frazier, Doris Karriker, Darlene Nortman, Anna Royer, Gayla Royer, Dorothy Simmons and Maudrey Whatley. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Church family of First United Pentecostal Church of DeQuincy, the staff of Perkins pharmacy, the Odyssey Hospice Medical Care Team, DeQuincy Home Health, Dr. Jalel Joudeh and staff & Dr. Stephen Castleberry
