At the age if 92, Rubye McLean Reeves Acton died on October 24, 2004, after an extended illness.


She was born in Homerville, GA on October 17, 1912 to the late William A. McLean and Vinie Roberts McLean. She was married to R. D. Reeves, with whom she owned and operated Reeves Jewelers, Inc., in Middletown, Ohio. Four years after the death of her first husband, she married John D. Acton, eventually moving to Jacksonville in the late 1950s, where after working for Sears, Roebuck & Co., for 20 years, she joined John to work with him at Acton's Clock & Watch Repair on University Blvd. Rubye closed the store and retired several years after the death of John in 1984. She was a long time member of Mayfair Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, granddaughter, and great grandson, one brother in law and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many dear neighbors and friends. Burial was in the Greenlawn Cemetery.
