Survivors include his wife Mrs. Annie Maude Wells Mitchell, sons King David Mitchell, John Cecil "Buck" Mitchell and Clyde Edward Mitchell of Danville, VA, Eugene Madison Mitchell of Wilmington, DE, Grover A (Jack) Mitchell of Blairs, VA, George Edgar Mitchell of Renan, VA, Joseph Kemper Mitchell of Cascade, VA, Joshua Lewis Mitchell of Sutherin, VA and daughters, Eunice Mitchell Wilson of Martinsville, VA, Eva Mitchell Roberts of Schoolfield, VA and Mildred Mitchell Sirmon of Chatham, VA and 33 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
He is also survived by sister Cora Mitchell Powell of Bairs, VA.
He was predeceased by son Lonnie Coleman Mitchell and daughter Carrie Mitchell.
Funeral services were held at Scott Funeral Home in Danville.
Burial was in the Mitchell-Holley family cemetery in Whitmell.
