A funeral service honoring her life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011 at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel, 682 1725 Road in Delta, Colorado. Burial will follow at Mesa View Cemetery.
Gladys Marie Nave was born to Albert Claudy and Lula Maebelle (Slagle) Nave on October 28, 1915 in Stigler, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood and attended schools in Oklahoma.
On March 20, 1934, Gladys married Clinton Edward Charlton in Goodman, Missouri. The couple shared 54 years of love and marriage together before Clinton's passing on June 30, 1988.
Gladys, a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, enjoyed canning, cooking, sewing, and reading her Bible. When she was younger, Gladys held several jobs including: Waitress, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Garment Factory Worker. She was a member of the Faith Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church in Delta for many years.
Gladys will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to love and know her.
Gladys is survived by her daughter, Colleen Rice and her husband Jack of Grand Junction; two sons, Clinton Leroy Charlton of Clifton and Marvin E. Charlton of Mt. Olive, NC. Gladys is further survived by 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and 6 great great- grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Charlton; parents, Albert and Lula Nave; one son, Charles Eugene Charlton; infant son, James Charlton; one brother, Oscar Nave; and a sister, Ethel Nave.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
