William Nathaniel Scales (1825-1864) was the eldest son of Dr Robert H Scales of Rockingham County, NC. "Nat" married Martha Keigler on Apr 14, 1846, in Louisiana. They lived with their children in Mississippi. During the Civil War, W N Scales was captain of Co D, 5th Mississippi Cavalry. He was captured in Nov, 1863, and sent to Camp Chase, Ohio. He died there, as a POW, on Apr 9th, 1864. He was originally buried at Camp Chase in the Confederate Cemetery, grave #133. His body was later moved.
