Mrs. Laversa E. Garns, 87, widow of Luther W. Garns of 1025 Rose Hill Ave. died at her home Wednesday morning after a lengthy illness.

Born in New Brunswick, Canada, she was the daughter of Alfred E. and Lucretia Kierstal Corey. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the adult bible class.

She is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Gail G. Bast of Boonsboro, Mrs. Ruth E. Mowen and Miriam E. Garns, both of Hagerstown, Mrs. Esther L. Harrup and Mrs. Alberta M. Hershman, both of Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Mary K. Krempels of Summerville, N.J. and Mrs. Bernice L. McDearmid of Bangalore, India. Also surviving are a son, the Rev. J. Edward Garns of Annandale, Va., 20 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at the Assembly of God Church Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Arvel J. Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the Boonsboro Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and at the church one hour before the services.
