Lura, who never married, was the daughter of Paul F. and Lillian Kilmer. She loved hunting and fishing, was a former supervisor at Fisher-Price retiring in 1983 and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was cremated and her ashes as well as the ashes of her dog and cat were all buried together.
