ERVIN V. BLUME, 91, of Fort Wayne, died on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Kingston Rehabilitation Center. Born June 9, 1920, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Virgil and Etta Blume. He graduated from North Side High School in 1938 and Michigan State College in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps from 1943 to 1946. He practiced in Butler, Ind. and Edgerton, Ohio from 1946 to 1974. He then worked for the U.S.D.A., Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Indiana State Board of Health. After retiring from APHIS in 1990, he worked for IBAH and Elkhart County Fair. He was an honor roll member of Northeast Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, Indiana VMA, American VMA and AA Bovine Practitioners. He was a life member of American Legion Post 202, in Butler, and was an active member of Bethany U.M. Church. Surviving are son, James (Wanda) of Fort Wayne; daughter, Rebecca (Jean-Pierre) Bleger of Durango, Colo.; three grandsons; two granddaughters; one great-grandson; and four great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie; sister, Josephine; and brother, Bill. Service is 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at Bethany United Methodist Church,, 7715 Sunny Lane, with calling one half hour prior. Calling also from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road. Burial in Highland Park Cemetery.
