Ressie L. Smith Parker, 86, of 11 Highlawn Ave., died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, in Virginia Beach, Va.

A native of Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Daisy Couch and Walter B. Smith and the widow of James Henry Parker Sr.

Mrs. Parker was a retired employee of Brookline Carpets and a member of City View First Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Norma Jean and Jack R. Compton, of Hampton, Ga., and Brenda J. and Steve Owens, of Virginia Beach, Va.; a son and his wife, James Parker Jr. and Alethea Parker, of Greer; a sister-in-law, Catherine Hamby; a brother-in-law, Millard Kelley; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday in the funeral home chapel, with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family is at the residence.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society of Greenville County, 113 Mills Ave., Greenville, SC 29605.
