Canadian Journalist, Newspaper Publisher and Politician. He began his career in Journalism in 1893, later becoming publisher of what is now known as "The Lethbridge Herald" which is still running as of 2022. He was elected to the Alberta Legislature in 1909 and in 1911 elected as a Member of Parliament. He was called to the Senate of Canada at the age of 49 on September 5, 1925 on the advice of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, a position he held for 29 years until his death in 1954.
