She was the daughter of John and Martha (Fugate) Pendergrass.
Dortha is survived by her husband of 59 years, William H. Reel of Battle Creek; son, Marvin (Marise) Reel of Ceresco; daughter, Connie (Russ) Rugg of Bellevue; daughter-in-law, Katrinka Reel of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Jason (Jen) Reel of Paw Paw, Jeremy (Angela) Reel of East Leroy, Hannah Reel (Josh Brown) of Frankfort, Kentucky, Gordy Stine, Sara Rugg and R.J. Rugg, all of Bellevue; great grandchildren, Anna Reel and Oliver Reel of Paw Paw; sisters, Lillian Simmons and Shirley Whittey of Spring City, Tennessee, Ruth Keener of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews and special friend, Shirley Ogden of Battle Creek.
She was preceded in death by her son, William Dean Reel; both parents; sister, Minnie Smith and special friends, Sharon and Al Lucas.
Dortha worked in food service at the federal center in Battle Creek, Howard Johnson's and the Holiday Inn.
She was an avid bingo player, a Detroit Tiger fan and enjoyed game shows on TV. She was considered a good cook, and enjoyed yard work and gardening. Dortha loved her family and all her children but especially her grandchildren and playing games with them.
Services were held Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Shaw funeral home with Pastor Steve Olmstead, Pleasantview Family Church, officiating.
The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home.
