Rachel Ford was born on November 10, 1834 in Warrentown, Bartholomew County, Indiana to Jonathan and Rachel Robison (or Roberson).(Her parents moved to Indiana from Ohio when her mother's parents disowned her for joining the LDS Church.)

Rachel, and Rachel's mother and father,and 4 of her siblings came to Springville, Utah with Aaron Johnson's Company in 1850.
