Eugene Rex Murfin, 77 a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Monday, January 16, 2012 at Gila Regional Medical Center.

He was born December 7, 1934 in Socorro, NM to Ralph and Clytie (Dees) Murfin.

He moved to Silver City in 1978 to help build the Mathis Lime Plant. He had just finished helping build the Mathis Lime Plant in Linden, TX. Later he worked for Western NM Telephone Co. building trailers and equipment. In later years he bought a place in Vanadium so he could build his Gold mining equipment and tinker with other projects. He was a very quiet man who enjoyed his coffee and visiting friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Christine Murfin; one son, Donald Ralph Murfin; one sister, Earlene Murfin.

He is survived by two daughters, Marie Wells of Silver City; Rojean Hellyer of Granby, CO; two brothers, Billy Murfin of Granbury, TX; Benny Murfin of Roswell; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Joshua, Brandi and Brittany; three great-grandchildren, Aspen, Dane and Mason.

No service will be held per his request.

Inurnment will take place at Ancho Ccemetery in Carrizozo, NM (near Corona, NM). Cremation will take place at Terrazas Crematory. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Crematory.
