Visitation with Mrs. Aavatsmark's family was from 4 until 7 PM Saturday, November 22, 1997 at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home. She will be buried at the Machpelah Cemetery in Sterling, Kentucky. Mrs. Aavastsmark, 62, died Thursday, November 20, 1997 at University Medical Center. A native of Hazard, Kentucky, she received her Master's Degree from the University of Kentucky and was a retired kindergarten teacher having taught in Lexington, Kentucky. She was a member of South Elkton Christian Church in Lexington. Mrs. Aavatsmark was the daughter of the late Finley Lacy and Ruby Lee Dale Cisco and was preceded in death by her son, Erik Finley Aavatsmark and her brother, Robert Dale Cisco.

Survivors include her husband, Ivar Aavatsmark; two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher Robert and Sandra F. Aavatsmark of Lexington, Kentucky and Andrew Lee Aavatsmark and wife, Lee H. Newton of Hartford , Connecticut; daughter and son-in-law, Julieann and Jack E. Hillard of Lexington, Kentucky; and grandson, Christopher Robert Aavatsmark of Lexington, Kentucky. Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
