Son of Victor Weldon Hesseltine and Mary Eloise Gibson Hesseltine.

Jim left behind a family that loved him dearly: His wife Ruby of 41 years; children Jeff Hesseltine, Tiffany Jones (Matt), Mandy Gray (Sam), Debbie Slaughter (David), Shanna White (Justin), Nicole Barrera (adopted member of the family) and 7 grandchildren. Brothers Weldon, Ronny, Gerald, Morris, and Donny; Sisters, Welna Givens and Annette Imes

A more loving father, husband, brother, uncle & friend you'll never find.

Eulogy:
Born James, but always went by Jim and to most women, Jimmy.

On March 7, 1941, Jim made his presence in the town of Woodsboro. It wasn't long before his family moved to Sinton, which was his home for a lifetime.

An avid athlete and hunter, Jim spent many years playing tennis and basketball. When he wasn't in the gym, he was in the brush hunting turkey, door or wild hog. (Or in his underwear shooting skunks from the back porch.)

Jim was a cowboy at heart, starting as a ranch hand and later owning his own ranch, buying and selling cattle. In the early 70's he owned Hesseltine Hancock filling station. In 1975, he went to work for San Patricio County Drainage District, where he worked for 25 years and retired in 2000.

He spent his retirement years helping others, being a side-line coach, referee and fan, waiting for the first Norther to blow in so he could hunt for deer.

Nothing could compare to the smile Jimmy had when you met him. Now he is smiling from up above, as he is with his Heavenly Father.

This scripture says what his last days meant..
"The one thing I do, however, is to forget what is behind me and do my best to reach what is ahead. So I run straight toward the goal in order to win the prize, which is God's call through Christ Jesus to the life above." Philippians 3:13-14

We love and miss you Jimmy, Daddy, Pawpaw, brother, uncle and friend

The family would like to thank you for all the prayers, food, well-wishes and support you have given over the past five months of Jim's life. Your love and kindness are greatly appreciated and will be remembered always. Special thank you to Brenda Oranday for her dedicated care, time, and love she gave to Jimmy.
