When he was appointed to the dept. in Dec. of 1907, horses were still in use to pull the wagons. He received numerous awards and citations over his career.

∼Lt. Gilbert Gibson the DCFD. He join in 1907 across the street from where he lived on Dent Place. He was a very giving and loving man. He took care of his family and family members. He was awarded a lot of awards as a Firefighther. He loved doing that job...His first job there was the water boat. Then engine 5 on Dent Place, then a few other stations final station was 20. Where in died in the line of duty, doing what he loved to do.
