Max Dean Harper, 72, of Lindon, Utah, died July 10, 1997 at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah.
He was born October 16, 1924 in Lindon, Utah to Perry William Harper and Emily Duke Harper. Max attended Lindon Elementary School and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School. Six month after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force and served as a waist gunner on a B-24 crew (1944-46) stationed in Italy during World War II. He served a two year mission (1947-49) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Northern States Mission, which included the states of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. After his mission, he attended Brigham Young University. He married Helen Young on March 14, 1951 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have lived in Lindon since 1955. He served as Justice of the Peace for Lindon City and was a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many ways. He loved his family, his country, enjoyed living in Lindon and enjoyed country western music. He participated in a Barbershop Quartet for a short time. Max was a realtor for ERA Mountainland in Pleasant Grove for the past several years. He served on the Utah County Housing Board.

Survivors include his wife, Helen of Lindon; one daughter and three sons: Elenna Reif, Murray; Bill (Debbie) Harper, Lindon; Michael (Lisa) Harper, Lindon; Tim Harper, Levan, Utah; nine grandchildren, Angelique Weeks, Bill and Nick Reif, Shannon and Madison Harper, Alexis, Jacob, Joshua, and John Harper. Additional survivors include a sister, Ruby West, and a niece, Dixie Beck both of Pleasant Grove. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Ralph Harper and a nephew, Kay West.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 14, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Lindon West Stake Center, 610 West 100 South, Lindon. Friends may call Sunday evening at Olpin Family Mortuary, 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Lindon City Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and nurses at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for their devoted loving care of Max, and they also appreciate the love extended to them by family and friends.
