FORT WAYNE - Cynthia S. (Friend) Troop, 64, of Fort Wayne died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, at Englewood Health and Rehabilitation in Fort Wayne. Cynthia was born Jan. 31, 1948, in Garrett, to Donald E. and LeAnna M. (Freeze) Friend. They survive in Auburn. She was a 1966 graduate of Auburn High School. She then went to receive her business degree from Indiana Wesleyan College and became a registered nurse from the Parkview School of Nursing. She was a surgical nurse for Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne for 30 years, retiring in 2007. She was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Fort Wayne and the Order of the Eastern Star in Spencerville. She was also active in Rainbow as a young adult and loved cats. She married Billy L. "Bill" Troop on August 16, 1969, in Auburn, and he survives in Fort Wayne. Also surviving are a daughter, Laura M. Troop of Indianapolis; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael E. and Maureen Friend of Fort Wayne, and Jerry L. and Lori Friend of Auburn; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Friend of Butler. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen A. Friend; and a abrother, Randy E. Friend. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church, 1203 E. Seventh St., Auburn, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor Phil Emerson and the Rev. Ted Jansen will be officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Auburn. Visitation will also be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Feller & Clark Funeral Home, 1860 S. Center St., Auburn. Memorials may be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
